MAMALOUKA

Mediterranean cuisine restaurant in the center of Mykonos island, Greece, designed by interior designer Dimitris Economou.  Mamalouka (the name is of a traditional Myconian salad) was created with an eye to the Cycladic architecture and also the trends of the Mediterranean Sea. Vivid coloured floor tiles and cozy chairs were combined to the light decorative touches of the walls, ethnic lighting and build-in banquettes with nicely decorated cushions according to Cycladic trends. The internal garden was enriched with sweet smelling plants such as basils and lavenders and also plants that remind Greece such as bougainvilleas. Several dining levels prevent space monotony and create atmospheric dining corners. In addition to the traditional aesthetics comes a very modern touch, that of the second entrance of the restaurant, with fiber optics lighting built cleverly inside the wall with plexiglas in the whole length of the passage way leading to the internal of the restaurant catching the eye from the outer alley and enabling the customers to enter and be happily surprised by the fabulous garden.
